Get Involved

The Get to Know Program offers a number of highly interactive, hands-on activities designed to strengthen the connection between young people and the natural world. In fact, the ways you can get to know your wild neighbours are endless!

You can:

Enter the Get to Know Contest

Go outside, visit a park, local zoo or aquarium and spend some time getting to know your neighbours of other species. Then submit art, writing, photography, or videos about your experience to the Get to Know Contest, which launches on October 1 and runs until November 30. You could win cash prizes and a free stay at Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.

Take a Virtual Hike

Head over to the Virtual Hikes website and explore a park near you through this cutting-edge virtual experience. Follow the trail, learn more about the many species of plants and animals that share your local environment, and have fun! Then use your knowledge to enhance your next hike with friends or family.

Take part in a Get to Know BioBlitz

In partnership with Parks Canada, the Get to Know Program is launching mini kid-friendly BioBlitzes at over 15 sites across Canada on May 22. You can join experts in the field as you work to catalogue, photograph, and map the incredible diversity of plants and animals in a natural area near you. Then upload your findings to the online Get to Know BioBlitz Gallery, to share your experiences with youth across North America!

Raise money for an environmental event, school project, or charity

Need to fundraise for an upcoming school or outdoor event? Ecofundraising is a new way of fundraising that sustains or enhances the character of a community – its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well being of its residents. Use the Get to Know Program’s unique line of environmentally friendly products to better the environment while raising money! Get your fundraising started today!
